There have been a lot of changes in what was once known as the Scholastic Aptitude Test and Scholastic Assessment Test. The SAT is a college entrance exam, the SAT reasoning portion tests students on reading, writing, and mathematics.Each section of the SAT is scored on a scale of 200-800, with two writing subscores for multiple-choice questions and the essay. They also offer subject tests though I wouldn't take one unless I had to. If you want to know more basic information about the SAT or its history, check out these two sites:
