ETS describes the GRE so: "The Graduate Record Examinations® (GRE®) General Test measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and critical thinking and analytical writing skills. The GRE® Subject Tests gauge undergraduate achievement in 8 specific fields of study." Frankly, whether or not the specific subject test (such as in Psychology, Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Literature in English, Mathematics or Physics) is that important in your field, if you're looking to go to graduate school in a field that doesn't require a different test such as the MCAT or LSAT (see www.usedstudyguides.com for more resources for these tests) you'll need to get comfortable with the idea of taking the GRE. I took it myself including the GRE and psychology subject test in one day, though others might choose an approach that is different from that one ;) ETS provides provides information to applicants with disabilities who seek approval of reasonable testing accommodations at their Resources for Test Takers with Disabilities page. If you're interested in learning more about the GRE or think you know more than these guys, feel free to read or work on the wikipedia entry for GRE

Online Graduate School Guides

You should of course do a specific search in your favorite search engine for specific graduate school links for your interests (such as Psychology)- (I remember when I was in undergrad my favorite search engine was webcrawler, but it seems like google has taken over the world now ;)

About.com has a fairly extensice list of grad programs and some links about getting in to graduate school, its worth checking out.

Petersons offers a Graduate planner, with links to help you get started, find a school, prepare for tests and pay for school.

The trick is: Find the best study guide at the best price!

Kaplan puts out a lot of study guides for a lot of programs, but should you buy retail first when a lot of other people already have and no longer need their study guides since they've already taken the test and don't plan to take it again? There are a number of retailers out there who offer discounts and they may be the way to go, but why not check a site like eBay first?

If you can't find it on eBay, amazon has both discount and used study materials for sale, as do some of these other providers including Overstock.com and textbookx.com:

Search Overstock.com for:

search for a book
Enter an ISBN or Keywords:

Deep discount textbooks,
reference, general reading.
New or Used. Buy or Sell.
Great prices, Great service.
